I was sent this question about how I pray for people:
"Before you pray do you ask the Holy Spirit for the right things to do?"
This is a more developed version of my response.
It's funny how questions provoke responses you didn't know we're deeply held inside of you.
Here's my response:
I always engage Holy Spirit. It's not so much as a "dear Holy Spirit, what shall I do right now?" prayer at that moment when I pray for someone to be healed or whatever the need may be.
It is the personal relationship I have developed with Him and the lifestyle of connectedness to Him from which I live.
Revelation flows from grace, friendship and love.
Don't get me wrong, in my relationship with God, things have worked that way and still do, but there is much more to it than that.
There are those times when I'm at a loss for words, taken by surprise and not sure what to do when I'm praying for someone.
But as I move forward in life walking with God, I grow in wisdom & revelation, which partner together.
As I move closer to God, I begin to excel in understanding, direction and the discernment of His will. I step into that and function from it.
The continual relationship and connecting with God gets deeper as we spend time with each other. It becomes a part of me.
It's who I am.
When you are in a relationship with a person and you can often tell what is happening by their expression, their tone of voice, or a look that says 'oh, this is what we were talking about earlier'.
In a relationship, we always ask our partner how they are, what they are thinking and how they are feeling. That is how love operates.
We're a unit.
It's that kind of love and intimacy with God that produces that which is lasting, tangible and good.
