A Different Drum
I woke up this morning hearing a phrase, “Some walk to the beat of a different drum.”
My mom used to say this when I was young. We would be talking about a situation or dealing with people.
It was her way of extending grace to someone she disagreed with or was not understanding someone’s ways.
We are all wired differently and often hear a sound we respond to that others cannot hear.
In a certain culture, when women were pregnant with a child, the women of the tribe would sing a song over her and around her and then sing it during her birthing time and then that became that child’s song.
When we prefer conformity, cling to stereotypes or expect a particular behavior, are we falling short of understanding God’s creative will?
Are we relying on our own beliefs for revelation and stability?
What song are you hearing for ourselves?
What song are we hearing for others?
Is that our job?
Who is our Drummer?
Psalm 139:14 (NASB95)
I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.
